Muslims, Jews and Christians share the saying,
"Love thy neighbor as thyself."
A hundred hands caress me
every time you merely touch
a finger to my lips.
Your palm upon my cheek
lights my internal heavens with an aura:
white and blue and golden softened light
of morning stars and moonlit night.
But this is not the only love on earth:
When "love my neighbor as myself,"
Attempts to make me one with you,
turns war to peace, stops animosity,
gets way beyond my fears,
this world of mine can last a million years.
You lay your body next to mine.
Dear God, the gift of love so permeates the earth.
Please share these moments
with all men and women.
Give us peace, and time
to find this love in all our kind.
There is no end to precious love both human and divine.
I want to know the hows and whys.
I want to learn
to softly place my hand
upon your heart,
to be the world of active peace,
to be excitement, love-make hatred cease.
I'm learning "love my neighbor"
teaches: you and I can hold
ten thousand neighbor's hearts in ours,
a thousand graceful valleys,
hills and trees-
that here amongst the hundred hands,
we'll all be one in all the lands.
